Therapeutic Environment

Therapeutic environments can refer to physical, social, and psychological safe spaces that are specifically designed to be healing.

Immersive Environment

Providing, involving, or characterized by deep absorption or immersion in something (such as an activity or a real or artificial environment)

Labyrinth Therapy

A labyrinth is not a maze. It is one path. There is only one way in and one way out. Various studies prove that it is a mindfulness based excerise which reduces cortisol levels

Monitoring Systems

All the areas will be monitored for safety of patrons by either camera or staff. Docents and staff will be available at every junction in the exhibit to guide and intervene if and when necessary

Research (Primary and Secondary)

WHAT

91%

students believe that such spaces should be permanent

I think so, yes because there’s been so much going around. People should feel safe, if they have a space and can keep people from losing it, why not permanent?

I asked college students across 3 continents if they would use an immersive therapeutic environment if it was available on-campus

93%

students responded in affirmitive

Yes

No

Maybe

I love the idea

I think they have those little rooms in the
library but i don’t use them

It should be modular, Regularly updated, Pop-ups for finals week, Add motivational classes, Customizable, Meditation space, Accessible (to neurodivergent and disability students)

WHO

Under Stimulation

39%

of the students found helpful resources when they were under-stimulated.

9%

of those students were able to use college resources and most of them found these resources unhelpful

I think universities need to prioritize more on the well beings of individuals, maybe set up more available counselling and therapy sessions

Under Stimulation

49%

of the students found helpful resources when they were over-stimulated.

29%

of those students were able to use college resources and most of them found these resources unhelpful

Infrastructure which stabilizes mental health in university is essential due to the excessive inputs in a student’s life from external factors.
